The October issue of N- Scale Railroading magazine features the latest in a series of articles by Robert "Bob" Diepenbrock of BobCat Studios. It details how to create a accurate, prototypical N Scale baggage car using passenger cars from the recently released Kato Olympian Hiawatha set.

"I'm always looking for ways to create unique scale models that are unavailable using existing materials," comments Robert, "When the Kato Hiawatha set hit the market I immediately noticed that if you put two ends of the Baggage-RPOs together you got a full baggage car."

The article uses pictures and descriptions by the author, to create easy to follow step-by-step instructions on how to built the Hiawatha baggage car. To produce the articles Diepenbrock combines his years of modeling experience with his writing and photographic talents.

"As a kid I was fascinated with model railroading, smiles Diepenbrock, I loved making things with my hands and I could get lose my cares in that romantic world I created."

His childhood passion later grew into a career making models for industry and movies, including special effects miniatures for films such as Star Trek II-The Wrath of Kahn, E.T.-The Extraterrestrial, The Fifth Element and Starship Troopers.

"I've used many of the techniques that I learned in model railroading in my movie career," added Diepenbrock, "Likewise I've brought things I've used making movies back into my model railroading."
